If you request a prefix using dhcpv6-stateful the entire process of assigning a prefix is handled by the dhcpv6-server, more or less exactly like on DHCP on IPv4. It's a 14 byte long identifier, starting with a 2 byte length information (usually ”0x000e”): # hexdump -e '"%07. The main difference between slaac and dhcpv6-stateless is that you in dhcpv6-stateless request a prefix using slaac and additional information, like DNS-servers, using dhcpv6. Note that the ”dhcp.client-id” no longer belongs to a MAC address, an unique ID is used instead! ”dhcp6c” (see above) uses the file /var/lib/dhcpv6/dhcp6c_duid (would be created during first start, if not existing) as unique identity. ![]() ![]() # Prefix range for delegation to sub-routers Option dhcp6.domain-search "domain.example" ![]() 4.Can you please give me, sample server side configuration for ISC DHCPv6. # Range for clients requesting a temporary address 2.vendor class (option 16) is sent from client. Note, that the router requires to have a interface configured with an IPv6 address out of the defined subnet. I would like send to PC on different subnet, different configuration of DNS in stateless mode. ![]() Create a dedicated configuration file /etc/dhcp/nf for the IPv6 part of the dhcpd.
